Hello everyone! This is Kana from Sakura Hostel Asakusa!
How's it going?
Today I would like to write about one of my favourite things... It's train!
Does anyone remember that I used work at Shinjuku, the busiest train station in the world?
The reason why I chose the position was... I am somewhat of train otaku! (Otaku means geek!)
Let me talk a bit about train system in Tokyo first.
There is no government-owned National Railway in Japan now. JR, which stands for Japan Railways, was used to be the one, but it was devided into 6 private corporations in 1987. Tokyo area is served by JR East.
So, we have JR East as the biggest train company in greater Tokyo area.
There are many other private railway companies such as:
Odakyu line- you will ?take this when you are going to Hakone!
Keio line- this takes you to Sanrio Puroland :-)
Tokyu line- this connects Tokyo and Yokohama
Tokyo Metro- underground running throughout Tokyo
Toei- another underground
Now it's time to show my favourite train!
There you go :-)
This is one of 'Shinkansen', super express train which ran at 250km/h at its highest speed.
Some of them have cute pictures of Suica Penguin! XD?(Suica is useful travel card issued by JR East!)
And here is the cutest Shinkansen!
Look how cute it is!!!!
It is no longer in daily operation though... But you can meet him (her?) in the Railway Museum!
I have got some more pictures for you but I think we had enough for today ;-)
So I will keep them for the next time! XDXD
Until then! Good night everyone!
