Hi there! This is Ayu from Sakura Hostel Asakusa.
Today, I'm going to introduce an International Hot Air Balloon Festival held every year in Japan.
It is called ''Saga International Balloon Fiesta''?held in Saga prefecture, which is close to my hometown.
Actually I don't know how popular hot air balloon is in other countries, but I'm very familiar to it thanks to this festival.
It has been held in Saga for more than 30 years, so many of my friends back home have been to this festival once in their life.
Of course me too!
One of my friends Maru-san is a big fan of this festival, and has taken a lot of pictures for years.
To introduce this festival to more and more people, he kindly let me use some photos for my blog.
The festival is held in the riverside of Kasegawa for about a week from end of October to the beginning of November.
In that time of the year, a lot of cosmos flowers are in bloom along the riverside.
The festival consists of competition and exhibition.
This time I'll show you some photos from the competition area.
This is how the balloons are set up before launch.
This is very interesting, isn't it?
If you're in Japan from October 30th to November 3rd this year, don't miss it!
I'm sure you'll be very impressed if you see it on site.
Even if you're not in time for visiting the festival this year, don't be disappointed.
There's a live streaming on YouTube, Ustream and Niko Niko video, so you can enjoy the great view online!
Next year, ''World Hot Air Balloon Championship'' will be held in the same place, same season after 19 years since last time in Japan (it was in Saga as well).
If you're interested, plan your trip to Saga and Japan at that time!
Well, this is all for today. See you around^^
