Kakizome is an event where the first calligraphy of the year is written with a brush,
while facing an auspicious direction, and is usually held on January 2nd.
Japanese people write their New Year's resolution, or a Chinese character that makes them feel happy, such as "dream", "hope" and so on.
The participants chose an idiom of Japan for a wish of New Year and tried writing with a brush.
Calligraphy is not only a way of writing but an art and a way for maditation!
Their works are great!!
The idiom at left means "treasure every meeting, for it will never recur".
The idiom in the middle means "Grace of Year".
The idiom at righ means "perfect state of health".
After that, we played Japanese traditional game "Bouzu Mekuri" with the participants.
For this game, we use "Hyakunin Issyu(100 poems cards)".
This game is played on New Year's holidays!
We were soooo excited! LOL
Hope everyone enjoyed Kakizome and Bouzu Mekuri!
Our next tours & activities are on Jan 8th :)
* All of our tours and activities are exclusively for SAKURA HOSTEL ASAKUSA's staying guests.
