Hi there! This is Ayu from Sakura Hostel Asakusa.
Today, I'm going to tell you about Todoroki Stadium in Kawasaki.
It is a home stadium of Kawasaki Frontale, a football team in J.League div.1.
When I visited there last year, the stadium was under the big rennovation.
The main stand was not covered with roof before, so they were building an extension last year.
It was kinda surprising that they still hold the game in the same stadium during the construction.
I had been to this stadium many times, but I was looking forward to visiting the renovated stadium this year.
This is how they look now!
The main stand is brand-new, rennovated with blue seats, in Frontale's team color.
What is more surprising was how they look outside.
I regreted that I hadn't taken the picture of old appearace to compare, but it looks like this now!
It looked quite simple and even boring before, but now it looks very modern, doesn't it?
If you visit this stadium, you can't miss ''FRONPARK'' as well.
It appears only on the day of the game, and you can enjoy a lot of food, attraction, events in this area.
As Kawasaki Frontale has partnership with Kasugayama Beya, the only SUMO stable in Kawasaki city, they sometimes have special SUMO events.
There was no such event on that day, but there was a food stand which serves CHANKO NABE (hot pot sumo wrestlers eat every day) cooked in Kasugayama beya's special recipe.
In Kawasaki city, they also have Doraemon Museum (Fujiko F. Fujio Museum), so you can find this in the Fronpark!
In football stadiums in Japan, you can enjoy not only the game but also a lot of food and attractions in the stadium and surrounding area.
If you like football or you're interested in J.League, I strongly recommend to visit the stadium during your stay.
J.League season is from March to November, and you also can enjoy Emperor Cup games in December.
If you need any advice, ASK ME anytime!!
