Hi there! This is Ayu from Sakura Hostel Asakusa.
As I announced last time, I'm going to introduce MUST-EAT FOOD in Nagoya.
I've been there many times, and I look forward to taste the local specialities.
This time I introduce 4 MUST-EAT NOODLE from Nagoya.
1. MISO NIKOMI UDON (味噌煮込みうどん)
It's udon noodle cooked in miso taste broth.
What is special about this dish is they use ''Red Miso'' in this area.
When I tried this for the first time, I was not surprised at the taste, but I was shocked at how hard the noodle was.
It's soft in the surface, but much harder than al dente!
You should try it especially if you like firmer noodle.
2. KISHIMEN (きしめん)
It's quite similar to UDON, but the form is a bit different.
As you can see in the photo, the noodle is flat and bload like ribbon.
It's usually served in a soy sauce flavored fish soup.
In Tokyo, you can find SOBA stand on the street or at the station, but you'll often find KISHIMEN stand in Nagoya.
The KISHIMEN stand on the platform in Nagoya station is very popular place for tourists!
3. TAIWAN RAMEN (台湾ラーメン)
You may think it's Taiwanese food, but actually it's not.
It is said that a Taiwanese chef in Nagoya invented this recipe and it gradually became popular all over Nagoya city.
The taste is very spicy, but so yummy!
4. ANKAKE SPAGHETTI (あんかけスパゲッティ)
''ANKAKE'' means ''with sticky sauce''.
It consists of thick spaghetti noodles and various kinds of toppings which you can choose.
The sticky sauce is made from tomato and several vegetables and seasoned with spices.
It's usually served in a mound, so I recommend you to order ''S'' size if you're not a big eater lol
There are still a lot of good and unique food to taste in Nagoya.
Maybe I'll introduce them later day.
See you around^^
