Hi there! This is Ayu from Sakura Hostel Asakusa.
The other day, I took a short trip to Fukushima and Niigata prefecture.
On the first night, I stayed at a very cozy ryokan in Bandai-Atami, Fukushima, so I'll show you what it was like today.
I took JR Tohoku Main Line from Ueno station, and changed to JR Banetsu West Line and got off at Bandai-Atami station.
There is hot spring in the area, and many ryokans as well.
I stayed at one of them, which was only a few minutes walk from the station.
They have a foot bath (ashi-yu) by the entrance!
It was a traditional ryokan, but well-renovated and looked very new and comfortable.
Flowers on the hallway... beautiful. Should we do this in our hostel too? lol
Each room has the flower name. My room was Tanpopo - dandelion. So nice, isn't it?
The room was very neat and comfortable. I reserved smaller room but they upgraded to such a bigger room!
I found SAKURA here!
When I woke up on the next morning and opened the window...
It had been very cold for those several days, but I was so surprised to see snow in April!
I enjoyed the open-air bath in snow♪
Of course it's nice to visit very touristic onsen place such as Hakone, but there are still so many onsen all over Japan.
If you really want to?get away from the hustle and bustle, it's also nice to stay in the town which is not very famous and less busier.
This time, it was just a short time stay, so I'll defenitely come back to this ryokan again.
If you want to know my favorite ryokan or hotel in other cities in Japan, ask me anytime^^
