Hey Everybody!
We just came back from our little trip to the Tori no ichi night market with our little group! This kind of event only happens two or three times in November. It is an event with a long tradition behind it. Thank you for coming with us! It was a lot of fun!

PB271084.JPGThere were sooooo many people and you could see so many different lucky items or charms. It was just amazing!
Everybody was waiting to pray and picking lucky charms. It was an amazing atmosphere.

PB271102.JPGPB271100.JPGWe even saw a pig on the way there! Here, Ayumi is on a picture with it! It had a batman cape on!^^
I'm not too sure if it had anything to do with the festival.. (; But it is definitely worth mentioning it!

PB271094.JPG

Here we took a picture of our group in front of one of the shops! (: See all the big lucky charms in the background?

PB271118.JPGSome of our guests even bought some charms! I hope it will bring you lots of luck!

PB271123.JPGThank you so much for coming with us! We had lots of fun and we hope you enjoyed it too! (:
It was a really nice experience, if you did not join us this time, I hope you will get the chance to come with us next year!
We are looking forward to it!

My favourite place in Tokyo

Posted by: Lars
(November 26, 2013 4:39 PM)

I bet some people before me wrote about the same topic before me, but I would like to tell you about my favourite place too.

Tokyo is so big with various interesting places to visit. But there is always this one place you like more than the others.
I bet all of you feel the same way. Of course where you go depends on what you intend to do.

For me, the place I like most in Tokyo is Odaiba. Not for drinking or going out with my friends, but I think Odaiba is one of the most beautiful and inspiring places in Tokyo. First of all it's directly at the sea. Although Tokyo is a city right close to the sea, you barely notice that most of the time. You can take a walk on the seaside or in one of the nice parks there. There is also a beach actually, but it's pretty small.^^

Also you just have a wonderful view over Tokyo from there. I think it's quite impressive. I like it especially at night. All the lights from the huge buildings in Tokyo, and the Rainbow brigde just in front of that! It looks soooo nice!

view-of-tokyo-bay-area.jpgNighttime-view-of-Rainbow-Bridge-and-Tokyo-from-Odaiba-Island.jpgI like this view very much! If you like the sea, maybe Yokohama is not a bad idea either, but Odaiba is just a little closer. And well, the view! <:
It's just beautiful, isn' it?

What is your favourite place in Tokyo?

Hello, everyone.
This is Yusa from Sakura hostel Asakura.

Do you know that Tokyo has many islands?
Perhaps, Tokyo has the image of a big city and urban place.
However, even so, also Tokyo has lots of nature!

This time, I introduce Izu Islands.
This islands are so near from Tokyo.
Actually, Izu islands are included in Tokyo prefecture.
It just takes about 1 and half hour to visit Oshima which is the nearest Island of Izu Islands, if you take a jet ship.

And cost is not so much.
If you don't mind to take a night ship, it costs less than 5,000yen to Oshima.

Izu island has 8 main islands, Oshima, Toshima, Niijima, Shikinejima, Kozujima, Miyake Jima, MikuraJima, and Hachijojima.
Each island has different characteristic.
All of them are so beautiful islands.

I recommend you to visit there, when you miss the nature★

Hey Everyone!

PB211034.JPGMy name is Lars, I'm from Germany and I just started working at the Sakura Asakusa Hostel on the 20th November. I'm so happy to get the opportunity to work here with nice people and to get to talk to people from all over the world! (:

Let me tell you a little something about me. I was born and raised in a little city close to Dortmund in Germany. All of the football/soccer fans of you may know this city^^ Kagawa Shinji played in the Dortmund football team! (we all want him back.. desperately :P) And yes, of course I like football! ^^

I studied Asian sciences at Bonn University with Japanese as my first language. Because of that I got the chance to study one year at Shizuoka University from 2010 till 2011. I had an awesome year with toooons of fun, trips and new friends! <: Shizuoka is small, but it's beautiful and it was the perfect opportunity to study Japanese!
After that I decided more or less spontaniously to go to Canada for one year to do working holiday! From 2010 on I had such great two year with lots of travelling, fun, making new friends from all over the world and gaining precious experiences. And if you ever go to Canada, I recommend a hiking trip through the Rockies, its just stunningly beautiful! *-* But see yourself! ^^

Canada.jpg

Now I'm in Japan with the working holiday visa and got a wonderful job here at the Sakura Asakusa Hostel. I hope to work here for a long time! So please come and visit us here at the hostel! ^^

I'm looking forward to meeting a lot of new people and to work with all of you!
