Quick Breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
But sometimes you don't have time for breakfast.
This morning I had an early shift so I got up really early.
Because I felt lazy getting out of bed, I skipped breakfast.

Well.. Not really. I had a quick breakfast.
This is what I usually get if I didn't have time for breakfast at home.
Very healthy and nutritious jelly drink.
It's a pouch which you can enjoy the natural taste of jelly drink banana and Yogurt flavor.

IMG_2356.jpg

You can easily get them at most convenient stores.

IMG_5619.jpg

You just squeeze it.

IMG_0666.jpg

Just a small amount of healthful food can help refuel your body properly, so try to have breakfast if you can.
Don't forget, we offer breakfast at Sakura Hostel too!

Wagashi

The other night, our staff member brought Wagashi to work.
Wagashi is a traditional Japanese sweets.
There are different types of Wagashi.
Some are made of mochi, azuki bean paste, or fruits.

This one is made of azuki bean paste. Aren't they pretty?
IMG_0554.jpg

It is always best to eat them fresh as refrigeration causes it to dry and harden.
There are so many varieties of wagashi.
You should try it when you come visit Japan.

What do you usually have for a Breakfast?

The cuisine can present the culture.
Especially Breakfasts are really different among cultures.

I think some western people might be surprised,
but we, Japanese people eat boiled rice for a breakfast.

This is the typical japanese breakfast!

Japanese style breakfast / holycalamity

-Boiled Rice
-Miso soup
-Baked fish
-Tofu(fermented bean curd)
-Hot tea

When I go abroad, I always miss this combination!

Through my travelling around the world,
I met different breakfasts.

In Portugal (my second motherland!),
Many people go to cafe or pastry in the morning.
And they have expresso and sweet cakes.

BF2.jpgのサムネール画像

In Uzbekistan, in Saturday's morning,
Men come together at restaurant and eat pilaf.

BF4.jpg

This pilaf is very typical uzbek dish.
And it's very tasty but a bit heavy for BF...

So I'm really interested in what you eat for BF!
What do you usually have for BF in your countries??

Japanese National Food

Have you ever tasted the Curry & Rice in Japan?

CURRY1.jpg

Since I (Kyoko) am Curry Lover, today I'd like to introduce our national food : Japanese Curry & Rice.

We usually make curry at home.

CURRY2.JPG

The roux is composed of these ingredients :

-Butter -Wheat Flour -Curry Powder -Sauce -Ketchup -Soy Sauce -Consomme -Milk -Salt & Pepper -Sugar

Not so spicy as an Indian and Thailand Curries :) It tastes very rich!

The fillings are normaly

CURRY3.jpg

-Onion -Carrots -Potatoes -Meat (Pork, Beef, Chicken etc)

But it reallly depends on families. And we eat japanese red pickles called "Fukujin-Zuke" on the side.

CURRY4.jpg

In addition we have some variations.

For example,

With pork cutlet

CURRY5.jpg

With seafood

CURRY6.jpg

Look so delicious, dont' you think so?! ;)

If you stay in Sakura Hostel Asakusa, We have Beef Curry & Rice at our cafe's menu! (500 yen)

Looks yummy? Be careful - it's shokuhin sanpuru 食品サンプル! ^^

Hello together,

today I want to write about

shokuhin sanpuru (食品サンプル)! ^^

That's the Japanese name for the famous replica food, you'll find at many restaurants here in Japan. ^^

Fujisoba2.jpg

So really many restaurants in Japan that serves Japanese and Westernized dishes have plastic replicas of the dishes on display in window cases or displayed on moveable racks alongside their front doors during their open hours.

Rest1.jpg

Rest2.jpg

Rest4.jpg

Rest6.JPG

These sample replica food often looks so authentic, that you have really have to take a much closer look to see, that it's not real. ^^

Does this really looking like fake? ^^

Fake1.jpg

In 1932 a man called Iwasaki succeeded in making the first food replica, an tasty looking "Omelet". This fluffy omelet with a drop of thick red ketchup on top impressed people at the time. He then developed the manufacturing technology and the system of mass-production.

Here in Japan, you really can find amazing looking shokuhin sanpuru!

Fake3.jpg

Fake4.jpg

Fake5.jpg

Fake7.jpg

Yummy, right! :D

Fake8.jpg

Fake9.jpg

Fake10.jpg

Fake11.jpg

This plastic food doesn't look just yummy and you know, what you will get...it's really helpful, if you can't read the kanjis and names of the food, you want to order - then you can show and point at what you want to eat. ^^

But shokuhin sanpuru can be a great souvenir, too!

Or just a yummy or funny decoration. ^^

Endfake.jpg

If you want to buy one of these "special dishes", you can do that just 5 minutes walk away from our Hostel at Kappabashi Dori, the great and famous also called "Kitchen Town".

Fakebuying.jpg

There you'll have a big choice of tasty looking plastic food! ^^

But don't go there hungry! :D

Sweets in Japan - which are your favourite ones? ^^

Hello together,

today I want to write about
my favourite sweets
here in Japan. ^^

As there are sooo many different, new sweet things here for me as a German to explore, this blog entry will be much fun! :D

So if you're hungry, you better stop here! ^^

Here it goes! ^^

Strawberry Daifuku いちご大福

Daifuku is a Japanese confection consisting of a small round mochi (soft and sticky rice cake stuffed with sweet fillings, most commonly sweetened red bean paste. Daifuku comes in many varieties. The most common is white-, pale green-, or pale pink-colored mochi filled with anko. But in the Strawberry Daifuku, there's a whole strawberry inside and the taste together with the red bean paste is really great. Totally new flavour for me. Totally great! ^^ Love it! ^^ And you can get them almost everywhere!

straw daifu_1.jpg

Mitarashi Dango みたらし団子

Mitarashi Dango is a Japanese dumpling made from mochiko, rice flour, covered with a syrup made from soy sauce, sugar and starch. Three to four dango are often served on a skewer. You can't imagine, how sticky and sweet they are. You can get them everywhere, really, so you should try! They are one of the sweetest things here, I would say! :)

20101016160645_img1_64.jpg

Taiyaki たい焼き

Taiyaki is a Japanese fish-shaped cake and It's most common filling is - of course - red bean paste. Taiyaki is made using regular pancake or waffle batter. The batter is poured into a fish-shaped mold for each side. The filling is then put on one side and the mold is closed. It is then cooked on both sides until golden brown. Love them fresh and hot. As I bite in the head at first, I'm a brutal girl! :D

taiyaki-2b.jpg

Imagawayaki 今川焼き

Almost the same as Taiyaki. You can get them at every festival! They are really yummy with vanilla cream, cheese cream, chocolate cream (that's the best!) or red bean paste fillings. Their dough is thicker than the Taiyaki ones and there's no better thing to eat, when it's cold outside, than a hot and fresh Imagawayaki at a festival! ^^

imagawayaki_cream.jpg

Ningyoyaki 人形焼

Ningyo-yaki are small snack cakes, made from cooking batter of flour, eggs and sugar in an iron mold. They are sold both with and without sweet bean paste. Many come in the form of the seven gods of good luck (shichifukujin 七福神) or the great lantern at the Kaminarimon gate of Asakusa temple. ^^ On festivals at Senso-ji, you can always buy them. Or just at the supermarket or combini in different, cute character forms (but of course these ones aren't as delicious as the fresh ones ^^).

ningyoyaki.jpg

Dorayaki どら焼き

Dorayaki is а red bean pancake which consists of two small pancake-like patties around a filling of sweet red bean paste. You can get them in very small to really big sizes (from 5 cm to 15 cm ^^) almost everywhere and they are very very tasty and a perfect snack, when you're hungry! ^^

dorayaki_01.jpg

Geppei 月餅

These nice little things have their origins in China, but you can get them almost everywhere here in Japan, too. They also are called mooncakes and red bean paste is the most popular filling, but other sorts of beans as well as chestnut are also used. They taste very very rich and have unbelievable much calories! ^^ For me, they taste very nutty and I love that kind of taste! ^^

Geppei.jpg

Melonpan メロンパン

A "bread" with an enriched dough covered in a thin layer of crisp cookie dough. It's appearance resembles a melon. Just try one and you'll be addicted! ^^ You can buy melonpan in different flavours/with different doughs and with different fillings like strawberry cream, chocolate or vanilla cream. ^^

melonpan_12.jpg

Baumkuchen バームクーヘン

First, yes, yes, of course I know, that Baumkuchen is from Germany! :D BUT the Baumkuchen here in Japan differs from the Baumkuchen I know from Germany. ^^ And it's one of the most popular pastries in Japan! So as I remember from the little Bavarian town where I was born, the old men, spinning around Baumkuchen over open fire on festivals and made an really crunchy caramel crust outside. The Baumkuchen here looks much more exclusive and filigree. In Germany, you can get that softy Baumkuchen often, too. But as Baumkuchen isn't that popular, too, I've often forget, to buy one...but here...no chance to escape! ^^

Baumkuchen2.JPG

Toppo トッポ

Toppo, the "reverse pocky", is a chocolate and bread-based snack, which you can buy in many different flavours/with many different fillings. The best was an winter special edition filled with white chocolate and little cinnamon flavour, hihi. That was great! ^^ But I love the classical Toppo very much, too (much more than pocky, I'm sorry ^^).

Toppo2.JPG

Kakigori かき氷

Kakigōri (かき氷?) is a Japanese shaved ice dessert flavored with syrup and condensed milk and you can get it almost everywhere while the hot, Japanese summer season! It's available in many, many different flavours like strawberry, cherry, lemon, green tea, grape, melon and colourful syrup-variations. ^^ I love cherry the most! ^^

かき氷.jpg

Garigari-kun ice ガリガリ君

That's the most popular ice bought in convenience stores here in Japan. It's only 60 Yen and 70 kcal (as I remember). The taste is really hard to describe. Sweet, very refreshing, like sugar soda. Really different for me. ^^ I love it! ^^

Garigarikunice.JPG

Tadaaa, all these things let increase your body weight very fast, I think! ^^

So it's really hard to withstand these nice, tasty, yummy, delicious sweets day by day! :D

You will see it yourself, when visiting Japan! ^^

Wish you many sweet new things to explore, hehe! :)

Have you ever eaten a chicken foot? ^^

Hello together,

today I want to write about the "Little Chef" Cooking Party, which was hold on December, 23rd in our Sakura Hotel Ikebukuro.

Woah, it was so great! ^^

Normally I'm not the girl, who is really into cooking (I like videogames more, you know ^^), but this was really so much fun for me, the next Little Chef Party I'm looking forward to and want to join again! ^^

And yes, I cooked something! ^^ It's called "Milchreis" and is very popular in Germany. ^^

But first let me tell you, how a "Little Chef" Cooking Party works.

People from many different nations get together and cooking (traditional) original dishes from their home countries (and in return for teaching and sharing this original recipes, all participants get drinks and the food for free ^^).

There were so many people there (really from everywhere - Sweden, Vietnam, Korea, America, India, Malaysia and Germany...sorry if I forget one of you nice people ^^).

CIMG0177.JPG

CIMG0189.JPG

The atmosphere was chilly with lot of fun in the air and it was really easy, to make new friends and have nice talks about cooking, culture, home countries etc.).

Everyone started preparing and cooking some dishes and these different smells seems like in perfect harmony.

CIMG0149.JPG

(Shun-san hero didn't cry! ^^)
Thumbnail image for CIMG0147.JPG

CIMG0194.JPG

CIMG0134.JPG

But of course, now I want to show you some nice dishes - and of course I tried all of them!

And I'm so sorry, that I can't remember all the names and countries of the menus, but later I was so busy with eating.^^

Here you see the "Sloppy Joes" Burger proudly presented by its cook Michael from the USA. ^^
CIMG0169.JPG

CIMG0175.JPG

Yummy "Cocada" from Brazil. It's with coconut and tastes really sweet and delicious (I love sweet things! ^^).
CIMG0179.JPG
That's "Ken Xoi" from Vietnam. I loved that. It was a little bit like my dish with ice cream and peanuts on it. So sweet and totally delicious! ^^
CIMG0181.JPG
Here you see "Cong Youbing" from China. I wanted to eat the whole thing alone (but that would not be fair to the others, so I was strong ^^).
CIMG0165.JPG
This one I never see before, too! But I had to try and enjoy it very much (but I'm not sure if you eat it as a main or side dish). ^^
CIMG0214.JPG
This one is from Sweden (but I can't remember the name ^^), but it tastes so good. As I can remember, it's a traditional winter or New Years dish in Sweden. ^^
CIMG0201.JPG
Here are some more pictures of all the tasty things I tried!

You see, I was really busy and eat and eat and eat.... :D

CIMG0202.JPG

CIMG0197.JPG

CIMG0210.JPG

This I will never forget. These are chicken foot, a dish from North Korea (thank you so much Tomo-san for that great picture! ^^).

CIMG0208.JPG

I always thought, that I would be never be brave enough to try it, but in a group with lots of fun and nice people, you really get brave! ^^ It tastes good - until I recognized, how SPICY this little pieces of the foot on my tongue are! ^^

First my head turns red and then I have to cry! :D

That was totally funny (because in Germany I was always the one who could eat more spicy food than all my friends and family).

That was great, I'll never forget! ^^

Thanks to the cook! ^^

And that's my Milchreis. ^^

CIMG0164.JPG

It's rice cooked with milk and sugar.

Then you put cinnamon on it and taste this sweet warm meal which let you feel great (especially in winter time! ^^).

The brown Milchreis is with lot of cocoa, so it tastes a little bit like hot chocolate.

You can eat it with fruits (we take strawberries, yummy).

In Germany you eat this hot as a main dish (really!!!) or can eat it cold as a dessert. ^^

CIMG0129.JPG

CIMG0162.JPG

And we eat and eat and eat and eat until everything was empty and eaten, hihi. ^^

CIMG0215.JPG

This day was such a great experience! I love it! ^^

CIMG0216.JPG

Thank you! ^^

I've never tried so much different food in one day. I was so full after that! ^^

And I'm really grateful for the big chance to try original dishes, I have never tried before (or had never the chance to, because it's simply not available in my home country or nobody knows it). ^^

So for me it was a great experience!

You really should take the chance to join, if you are here in Japan at the time of the next "Little Chef" Party!

After cooking, eating, trying and enjoying everything, we all together went to the Christmas Party in Ikebukuro Cafe and continued with having fun! ^^ Thanks to everyone there, for me it was the perfect start in celebrating Christmas! ^^

Panda Ice-Cream !!

It's very hot these days, isn't it?
Now, it's usual that the temperature is around 35 degree C.

In such a hot day, what do you want ?
I definitely need the ice-cream !!

I found a very cute ice-cream in Ueno.
That is...... Panda Ice-Cream

panda ice.jpg

Two pandas in Ueno Zoo, " 力力( lee lee ) & 真真( shin shin ) ", model for this ice-cream.

The eyes are made of black soy beans, and the nose is made of pea.
Two biscuits turn into the ears.

As a matter of fact,
there's a slight difference between these two panda ice-creams.

Can you see it ??

In order to distinguish 力力( lee lee ) & 真真( shin shin ),
the ear position is different.

The one whose left and right ears are apart is 力力( lee lee ).
In this photo, it's the right one.

Can you spoon up this lovely face?

You can eat it at the cafe " MEGURI ".

Doyo Ushi-no-Hi (土用丑の日)

The first days of spring, summer, fall, and winter were called
risshun(立春), rikka(立夏), risshu(立秋), and ritto(立冬) when the lunar calendar was used.

Doyo(土用) refers to the eighteen-day periods before these four days.
Among these four days,
Doyo of summer, which is the hottest time of the year, is the most famous.

It is very hot and humid in this season in Japan,
and many people, even dogs, tend to lose their appetite and feel poorly.

81.jpg

Since ancient times,
eel , which is very nutritious in fact, has been thought to provide stamina.
In order to prevent summer heat fatigue and survive the hottest season,
Japanese have a custom of eating eel on a special day during the Doyo period.
This special day is called " Doyo Ushi-no-Hi (土用丑の日) ".

Today, July 21st, is Doyo Ushi-no-Hi for the year 2011.

Many people have eel dish such as charcoal grilled eel and grilled eel bowl today.

Why don't you eat eel dish for dinner tonight ?

ICE + BEER

It's became very hot recently.
In the middle of summer, it's much hotter.

Because of the saving energy,
we have to struggle against the heat this summer.

In such a hot weather,
you want to relieve your thirst with cold drink, don't you ?
I guess, it must be the best to go with ice.

ko.jpg

There's a good news for beer lovers.

KIRIN proposes the new idea of how to enjoy beer.

That is.....

ICE + BEER

aisu.jpg

Even if ice is put in this beer,
the taste and the aroma of hop don't get thinner easily.
If anything, it becomes rich in flavor.

It goes on the market on July 27th, and is sold only in the convenience stores.

Do you visit Japan this summer ?

Therefore, it must be delicious.

Cold Tofu "Hiyayakko"

Good season for beer has come.

What is the best snacks to go with beer in hot summer?

In Japan, a lot of people will say " Hiyayakko ",
which is a popular Japanese dish made with chilled tofu and toppings.

Since tofu itself is a simple food,
it changes into more delicious one by the spice, topping, and seasoning.

The standard Hiyayakko is this.

+ Katsuobushi ( dried bonito ) and green onion

かつおぶし.jpg

Put some soy sauce on it. It's delicious.

The unique Hiyayakko is......

+ Natto

Gyudon War Again !!

We have three major Gyudon restaurant chains in Japan.
Yoshinoya, Matsuya, and Sukiya

The price war of Gyudon has heated up again.
Those three restaurants launched out into the price cut all together.

YOSHINOYA gives you 110 yen discount for any sized Gyudon.
Regular price of the regular-sized Gyudon is 380 yen, so you can eat it at 270 yen !!
It's the limited time offer from May 17th till 23rd.
In addition,
it's only for Eastern Japan Area.

SUKIYA gives you only 30 yen discount for any sized Gyudon.
Because the regular price itself is pretty cheap,
you can eat the regular-sized Gyudon at 250 yen in spite of the small discount rate.
It's from May 16th till 22nd.

MATSUYA gives you 80 yen discount for any sized Gyudon from May 16th till 23rd.

the order of price after discount is
" MATSUYA ( 240 yen ) < SUKIYA ( 250 yen ) < YOSHINOYA ( 270 yen ) ".

In terms of the discount rate, YOSHINOYA is good value. (*^ー゜)v

Japanese seasonal sweets

It's getting warm gradually and almost spring in Japan, then what do you come up with when you think the season ?
Entrance ceremony, viewing cherry blossoms, new life style, edible wild plants or bamboo shoot ?? Yes, you are right.
But first of all I come up with Japanese seasonal sweets.
As well as foreign countries have various kinds of sweets, so does Japan.
Especially Japanese value its four seasons, so the sweets are made for the seasons.
For instance, in spring, cherry trees are in full bloom, so people created a sweet called Sakura mochi, which means cherry blossom pink rice cake. It is made from pink colored sticky rice, stuffed with sweet bean paste and rolled into a salted cherry blossom leaf. It's one of spring symbols in Japan as well as cherry blossoms.

桜餅.jpg

Of course not only Sakura mochi but also there're more sweets to associate seasons.

Spring→ Kashiwa mochi (rice cake stuffed with sweet bean paste rolled into an oak leaf)

                                           柏餅.jpg

                Summer→Mizu youkan(soft sweet bean jelly)

水羊羹.jpg

Autumn→Tsukimi dango (dumplings for moon viewing)

月見団子.jpg

Winter→ Shiruko (hot sweet bean soup with dumplings or rice cakes)

汁粉.jpg

Do you like sweets ? I do !! why don't you come to Japan and enjoy them.
Now this season, let's have a party under the cherry blossoms with Sakura mochi, then you can feel Japanese spring.

ZARU ? MORI ?

Do you see the difference between these two soba noodles?

ざるそば.jpg もりそば.jpg

The left side is ZARU soba, and the right side is MORI soba.

Actually,
the difference is whether or not the seaweed called "NORI" is sprinkled on soba noodle.

In a soba restaurant,
you will find a big difference of the price between ZARU(ざる) and MORI(もり).
ざる( 550 yen ) is 100 yen more expensive than もり( 450 yen ).

メニュー.jpg

The price goes up 100 yen because of a small amount of seaweed !?
NO WAY !!

As a matter of fact, there's a history about it.

Long time ago,
all soba noodle which we eat with the dipping soup was called "MORI".
Later on,
soba noodle served on a bamboo basket entered the field. This is ZARU.

Compared with MORI, a better soba powder was used for ZARU.
Besides, there was a special dipping sauce for ZARU, which used mirin ( sweet sake ).

But now , it's merely the difference of nori.
In general,
soba noodle WITH nori is ZARU, and soba noodle WITHOUT nori is MORI.

It's weird, isn't it?

CHOI TASHI COOKING

Have you ever heard the word "CHOI TASHI"?

Unexpected seasoning and ingredient are added a little bit to a standard dish.
This is called "CHOI TASHI".

TV show "Onegai Ranking" has the unique segment called "CHOI TASHI COOKING".
Adding about 30 kinds of seasonings and ingredients to a dish, they place it in order of deliciousness.

I actually tried some of them which were challenged in "CHOI TASHI COOKING".
In my experience, I recommend is the following.

< Miso Soup X Mitarashi Dango >
*Miso Soup*
I'm sure you know what miso soup is.
There's no need to explain, right?
photos 001.jpg

*Mitarashi Dango*
It's the toasted rice dumplings covered with sweet soy sauce.
photos 002.jpg

I put Mitarashi Dango into Miso Soup.....
photos 003.jpg

Do you think it's weird?
However,
it's TASTY for no reason.
Rice dumplings get softer, which is good texture.
By sweet soy sauce, the sweetness was slightly added to the soup.

I have one more to recommend.
< Ten Don X Maple Syrup >
*Ten Don*
It's a bowl of rice topped with deep fried fish and vegetables.
photos 004.jpg

*Maple Syrup*
As you know,
it's the syrup which is put on pancake and waffle.

Toshikoshi Soba

Do you do anything special in New Year's Eve?
In Japan,
there is a custom of eating soba ( buckwheat noodle ) at the very end of the year.
We call it "Toshikoshi Soba".

年越し.jpg

It is often said that the life is as thin and long as soba.
Because soba is easy to break,
it also has the meaning of cutting off the troubles.
We eat Toshikoshi Soba, wishing for longevity and happiness.

There's no regulation of how to eat Toshikoshi Soba.
You can put anything as topping in soba.

Tempura

Egg

Sansai ( Mountain Vegetable )

There's one thing to be careful.
Eating Toshikoshi Soba after New Year's Eve passes is considered ominous.
It's OK to eat soba for dinner or for night meal.
It just says you should finish eating before midnight.

It remains as one of the good old traditions of New Year's Eve.
How about eating soba tonight, expressing the gratitude for living in peace ?

It's deep-sea fish.
The best season is from November to February.
Yes !! It's NOW !!

Because of luxury fish, the price of ANKOU is a little high.
It's worthy of the price. It's very delicious.
To your surprise,
you can eat everything such as skin, internal organs, and gill, except bones.

My favorite is monkfish liver.
I guess you have no clue of it.
It resembles foie gras.

Is there anyone who wants to challenge ANKOU, reading this?

Sukiyaki Restaurant in Tokyo, Japan

Sukiyaki is one of popular hotpot dishes in Japan.
The main ingredients are thinly sliced beef, tofu, starch noodles, and some vegetables.
It is simmered in a shallow iron pot with sweetened soy sauce.
The ingredients are dipped in the raw beaten egg, and you eat it.

Asakusa has the famous Sukiyaki restaurant, named "ASAKUSA IMAHAN".

今半.jpg

In Edo era,
the beef was a special gift dedicated to the Shogun (the general).
As a health remedy to promote well being and vitality,
it was served exclusively to the privileged class.
When Meiji era came,
Asakusa , as the foremost entertainment district, was loved by many people.
Then, the founder of ASAKUSA IMAHAN paid attention to the potential of beef.
That's the year 1895, which means it has been more than a century since it set up as the beef cuisine.

Actually, ASAKUSA IMAHAN is pretty expensive.
Most of the menus are around 10,000 yen.
Thus, I recommend "Orange-street Branch Special Sukiyaki Meal Set".
It's 3,990 yen.

Let's have NABE Party !!

In Japan, the popular party menu in winter is the hotpot dishes called "NABE".
From SUKIYAKI and SHABU-SHABU to CHANKO ( sumo wrestler's dish ),
it's full of variety.

NABE is easy to cook.
Just put ingredients into the boiled stock.
It used to give taste to NABE on one's own account.
With the background that a variety of NABE came out in the last few years,
the seasoned NABE soup was produced on a commercial basis.
It got popularized to enjoy NABE with these various seasoned soup.

Now, I introduce some trendy NABE.

< TOMATO NABE >

Tomato soup has the sweetish taste which the children seem to be pleased.
Because cheese as the secret ingredient suppresses the acidity of tomato,
it is mellow and has good body.
Put some rice and the beaten egg in the remaining soup at the end, and eat it as if it's rice gruel.
It's delicious.

トマト鍋2.jpg トマト鍋3.jpg

< CHEESE NABE >
チーズ鍋1.jpg

White miso was added to the CHEESE NABE soup、
which was blended with cheddar cheese and cream cheese.
It's the tasty soup in which good flavor of white miso and broth is effective well.
To make the best use of this delicious soup,
non-watery vegetables are good for this NABE.

チーズ鍋2.jpg

< MABO ( Sichuan style bean curd ) NABE >
マーボー鍋1.jpg

MABO TOFU is one of the most popular Chinese food in Japan.
The thick soup has a little bit spicy and sweetened taste.
These ingredients are recommended.
< minced meat, Chinese cabbage, spring onion, carrot, tofu, and vermicelli etc >
At the end, put the remaining over the rice.
Now, it's MABO rice bowl !!

Dessert Cocktail

In winter, you feel like drinking anything warm and sweet, don't you?

In reward for your hardworking,

Some buy food in the convenience store and eat it at the cramming school.

Fundamentally,

We started to reconsider child's eating habits.

TAIYAKI Manner

TAIYAKI is a Japanese traditional snack, which is a fish-shaped pancake filled with bean jam.

For a long time ago, there was a controversy about TAIYAKI even among literary people.
They discussed about whether there should be bean jam in the tail of TAIYAKI or not.
The representative opinions are as below :

< No bean jam in the tail >
1) Originally, the tail part is just the handle to pick and eat TAIYAKI by fingers.
2) The tail part should be the one to refresh our palate after eating something sweet.

< With bean jam in the tail >
1) We have the feeling that lose something unless there's no bean jam in the tail.
2) We feel TAIYAKI with bean jam in the tail more valuable.

These days, almost all TAIYAKI have bean jam in the tail.

In addition, the way to eat TAIYAKI has been discussed before.
Which is the correct manner, eating the head part first or eating the tail part first?

One questionnaire says about 80% people eat the head part first and 20% eat the tail part first.

About me, I'm minority on how to eat TAIYAKI.
I always eat the tail part first, and enjoy the head part fully filled with bean jam later on.

How about you?
